1. It got an Appreciation Index figure of 87

IGN's gave "The Snowman" a score of 9.4 out of 10
SFX gave "The Snowman" 4.5 out of 5 stars

It set records for BBCA
It was the most DVR'ed episode in DW history in the UK

Appreciation Index
On average, BBC TV programmes (as of June 2011) receive an AI rating of 82. For radio this is 80. Internal guidance to BBC production staff is that an AI of 85 or over is to be considered excellent

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appreciation_Index

So far series 7 has received Appreciation Index figures of 89,87,85,87,88,& 87

Appreciation Index average over DW's new run

Series 1 = 82.7692307692
Series 2 = 84.4285714286
Series 3 = 86.2142857143
Series 4 = 87.9285714286
Series 5 = 86.1538461538
Series 6 = 86.2307692308
Series 7 = 87.1666666667

So DW started out "bad" and improved, series 6 was the 2nd highest AI for a series of new Who and series 7 is pace to beat it

2. Series 4 AI was a bit higher than Series 7.

It's probably just my personal preference. It seems to be written for teens, and I was very put off by Clara and The Doctor "snogging." Not that I have anything against tv targeted at teens. I still love Supernatural. Even though they did kill off Bobby and John, they have numerous pop culture references from the 1960s and '70s. And the boys still drive the car that I learned to drive in. I love that car.

But that's another story for another day.

3. Agreed.

The last 3 seasons were almost unwatchable- w/ the exception of the Silence story arc in season 6. Now that Amy Pond is dead hopefully it will get better.
The Snowmen actually wasn't half bad...no Voyage of the Damned or Runaway Bride, but not bad.
