Boardwalk Empire: A Man, A Plan... - Season 3, Episode 10

Goodbye Owen Slater, we knew ye a bit better. But you were never going to run away with Margaret, and you were never going to whack Joe Masseria.

1. Also, Steven Root as Gaston Means is the almighty greatness of guest star acting.

You just never know what's going to come out of his mouth next.

2. Root is a fantastic character actor.

I make it a point to check out whatever films he is in.

3. I remember him years back in a comedic role on the show, News Radio...

Boy, his dramatic turns are as amazing to me as seeing Leslie Nielson do the opposite (go from heavy drama to comedy so seemlessly).

He is an amazing character acter, I agree

4. News Radio! That was a terrific show.

Right up there with Taxi and Night Court and WKRP.
First place I remember seeing Root.
and Khandi Alexander, who has done breathtaking roles in The Corner and in Treme.

5. Even if he came back from Masseria's, he was never running away with Margaret.

You could see it in his eyes. He was telling Margaret how he would leave Katie, and then he proceeded to tell Margaret almost the same "you and me forever" lie he told Katie. It reminded me of when Max Von Sidow's character in Three Days Of The Condor tells Condor, "This is how it will happen..." and in the very next breath he offers him a ride! Great writing, great acting.

8. My friend Hilari...she asked the same question.

We text each other during the show....I was shocked...saddened with Owen being killed off. I think Jimmy's mom Gillian, she is next. It might be at the hands of Richard.
