Anyone watching Masterpiece Theater Great Expectations?

Episode 2 this evening.

Episode 1 was quite compelling. The scene showing an attempt to drown a person in mud was so graphic in photography! Stark and grisly.

Tonight we shall see how Pip does in London, learning to be a gentleman!

She certainly went out in a "blaze of glory."

I must say, though, the BBC is really pushing the envelope in its latest productions of Dickens novels: "Little Dorrit," "Bleak House," and "Oliver Twist" in recent years all make earlier TV productions look like high school plays.

Oh, and another good one to rent is Dickens' "Mutual Friend." Again, get the most recent production.

I wish they would subtitle the more unintelligible accents. (Untelligible to Yanks, of course)

I am a big fan of British costume dramas, but I always have trouble with the accents, whether the posh upper crust variety or Cockney.

I've made it a habit of turning on the "Closed Captions" whenever I'm watching Masterpiece Classic or any other show from the Brits.

I'm not hearing impaired, and I'm good with accents, but after many years in medical transcription it's too much like work to listen that hard while watching teevee!
