my predictions for the season of Survivor starting tonight

I haven't looked at any cast bios for the first time in forever. Instead, here's what I think will happen in the season given the new structure of both tribes living on one beach together from the start.

I think we will see two camps set up with a de facto segregation going on between the two tribes. We will see levels of paranoia pre-merge never before seen on the show. "Why are those two over there? Why did he go fishing with them?" That sort of thing.

What we won't see, however, is what Burnett wants, which is cross-tribal alliances and a general ignoring of the artificial tribal constructs in the post merge.

The way to get this is to go further with what he started this season. (I proposed this years ago, btw.) Have all 16 or 18 or 20 people living on the beach together, with no tribes. When they go to the first challenge, they all randomly draw buffs for tribes for that cycle. So, reward challenge, reward, immunity challenge, tribal council, then back to no tribes. Next reward challenge, draw buffs again.

What happens is likely pure chaos, but a good player will be setting up primary, secondary, tertiary. and even quaternary alliances. One would need to be a master at finding Nash equilibria in multi-player situations to help determine how to get people to vote the way you want them to vote. There have been a couple of players good enough to pull this off, but I doubt it would be a common thing.

But you'd see fluid alliances formed for the short term, in hopes of avoiding being the one person on a tribe with an opposing alliance (shades of Michelle in Fiji).

I'm just happy Redemption is apparently gone.

It's going to be an interesting season. I figure the guys will act a little jerky. They will think they are invincible.
They may be for a while, but sometimes guile wins out over strength.

..is that at some point, things are going to get shaken up, and they're actions may very well come back to haunt them...All in all I think the women's team is pretty damned strong, and with the bunch of Abercrombie-model alpha types too busy strutting their stuff I think they could make this very interesting indeed...

So glad it's a fresh cast and no RI...both experiments that failed imho..

at the men being all mean and stuff. Stealing, etc., but this is a game. They are being a bunch of jerks, but that's probably why they were chosen. They women. Well it's pretty disappointing, being a woman myself and seeing how bad the women are at this game so early into the show. I'm hoping they'll get there shit together before it's too late.

I would like to see a survivor where the teams are changed up after every three days or less. So it would be hard to form an alliance. Or break up the two teams in to 3 or 4.
