I love Cats
Three of my Cat friends. They are very photogenic. Photos taken with D7000 and off camera flash.
Kira, the serious one
Leo, The Orange Ruffie
Andrei, he always eats first
Chompy Cats
Does anyone else subject their cats to such torture?

your white kitty looks like mine except mine has blue eyes. Cassi is my clown of my four cats, has a thing about feet, likes to chase them and lick them! It's kind of disconcerting to wake up to a cat licking your toes!

The bowls are special. We only use those bowls when they get special treats. They were loaded up with Friskee's meaty bits Ckn in gravy. When they hear the dishes clank they know something special is coming and they go wild.
Their regular food bowl and water bowl are always a bit of a mess in progress. |

|
Last edited Mon Aug 13, 2012, 08:06 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) My wife and I lived in Aruba 2005 - 2010 and we started Aruba Kitten Rescue. Since we moved back to the states we still do coordinating to help visiting tourists take kittens home with them. During our stay there we rescued over 150 kittens and "hotel cats". We have a website that gives more info.
http://www.arubakitten.org This is Keebler. We got her when she was hours old and was our last rescue while we were there. Bunny and Dude were 2 days old when we got them
Luna was hours old and our first rescue along with her 2 brothers, George and George.
Jenny was pregnant and feral when she wandered into our yard. It looked like she swallowed a volley ball. My wife managed to catch her and put her into our guest room. She had 4 kittens the next day. A week later we got a call from the vet. He had 2 one week old kittens that needed help as the mother had been poisoned. She accepted them. We decided to keep Jenny as she had a hard life and it would be so hard to get her adopted. After the kittens were weaned she moved under our bed and stayed there for 3 months, only coming out in ninja mode to eat and use the litter box. That was 6 years ago and she is now my lap cat while I watch tv in the evening.
Stanley (the big orange palooka) wandered into the yard. He was injured from a fight and was facing the possibility of losing his eye. He didn't. Though a big male, he would tend to the kittens. We would call him "Uncle Stanley".
And last but not least is our Missy. She is a Maine Coon that we had in NJ. Naturally she wasn't going to be left behind and she emigrated to Aruba with us and then back again. This was the shot I took of her the day we brought her home as a 3 month old kitten.
These 7 came back with us to the states. What a scene it was going through the airport. Just as an extra - here is a clip I made of Stanley. He is like my best friend. &feature=plcp |

13. Hi, Michael,
|
You are a man after my own heart. Thank you for caring for the kitties. I did some TNR in my neighborhood, but all the ferals are gone now.
But as a result of the TNR, we now have ten cats, because we could not say no when they were kittens. They range in age from 3 to 11 years. It's a lot of work (as you know) but we love them all. Of course! I love your photos. Thank you for posting them. And welcome to DU! |

16. Our menagerie
|
These are all just taken like snapshots (I know little about photography) with Pentax and Nikon DSLRs (we left the Pentax behind at DFW, we think
Our first full feral family. The tuxy is the papa, we named him Domino. The tortie is the mama, she is Ringtail. We didn't name this litter. We got them spayed/neutered/vaccinated (but we could never catch the adults). In a year's time, they were all gone.
Sweet Richard, RIP. Made the drive from California to Virginia, in 2000. Died at age 12.
Harry, the kitty love of my life, RIP. Richard's littermate.
Cocoa, Mrs. V.’s special kitty. Found in the undercarriage of a truck at 5 weeks of age.
Petey and Charley Girl. Petey, the Siamese, was born on 9/11/01. Charley is about seven years old.
Here is Charley Girl. We had her ear-tipped because we thought she (and her whole litter) would be feral. Little did we know . . .
Toby The Long, Petey’s littermate.
This is Daddy RIP. He was badass. We named him Daddy because we guessed that he must be Petey’s and Toby’s daddy.
Daddy on the left, Richard on the right, and a transient pal whom I called Big Charlie, stuck in the middle.
Skittles, named after the DUer who will KICK YOUR ASS! One of Charley Girl's littermates.
I'm going to have to post the others later, as Photobucket is having a spasm. |

I've been working with a local TNR group for over 10 years. # of my 4 are rescues.
This is Dexter. I rescued him and his two brothers from under the bushes in a parking lot next to a 4 lane street. There were about 6 weeks old. He's about 16 lbs now.
This is Wicket. He's a 15 year old British Shorthair.
Tache is the newest addition. She was dumped at about 10 weeks on our street and was coming onto our porch to eat. It took me a week to trap her. She was pretty scared but is now doing just fine.
Scully started it all 12 years ago. She was one of the kitten in three litters of kittens that were born at the same time in my neighbor's yard. We trapped all of them, fixed them and their moms, found homes for the sociable ones and released the rest back into the yard where they lived out their lives. There are still 2 left. Scully I kept. It was 4 months before I could touch her but she became very friendly and is quite the lap cat now. Though I still can't put flea medicine on her without her freaking out. ![]() |
