Close, closer, really close

Here are three pictures of the same flower at different ranges. The last was done with a cheap +10 diopter lens on my telephoto. I've ordered a genuine macro lens for my Sony NEX 5N, but until it arrives I just had to play around.

There was open sky to the left and a warm 200W CFL bulb in a clamp lamp reflector to the right.
