switching from aperture to lightroom

i finally got tired of waiting on apple for an upgrade to aperture. so ive begun the switch to lightroom. its a whole new world. going to take me a while to learn.
the only downside ive seen so far is my entire library (600gb or so) is in aperture. i cant just import them into lr, i can import the raw files but i lose any edits ive ever made. what i plan on doing is exporting the best of the best from aperture as tiff files and then importing them into LR. that. that way ill still have all the original raw files if i ever need them while the top shots will be in lr for my use

i can export tiffs or other lossless formats but not teh actual raw files.

i just took my aperture library (i keep a different one for each year) and put it on an external hard drive this way i have the files if i need them.
i also keep a folder of the best or the best images. i exported that as tiffs and imported the tiffs into lightroom.
