I took an old coffee maker box and cut 2 round holes. One on the bottom of the box and a smaller one on the left side of the box (from the bottom). One for my cameras lens and one for my air source. I used a hair dryer on low and a can of air, alternating one or the other. I used duct tape to get rid of all light along the box I didn't want. I cut a rectangular section out of one side of the larger area sides of the box and tightly pulled some clear wrap over the opening and secured it with more duct tape. I knew heat would cause the wrap to expand, so I pulled it extra tight and taped well. The wrap side allows light into your "air-mix machine".
I cut up my own confetti using tissue paper.
I'm still working out the kinks and plan to use other media inside my air-mix box.
Calm.
Not so calm.
With the hair dryer on high.

(6,154 posts)I love this idea. Please DO experiment with other media as you said you would. I've been thinking of doing some experiments with textures and groupings of objects, your post has urged me on.

(90,758 posts)I will. I've planned feathers and other light weight objects in various colors and finishes. I'm working on another air-mix today - different dimensions this time. I sketched it out and tweaked my original box a little. Will probably try various air sources before I'm done.
I'm hoping to get a series for my walls. Both color and B&W.
Please do your experiment and please share your results!
