A nice sunset taken in Montcalm County Michigan.
Some water spheres on a small plant...Baraga County Michigan
One of my favorites... I call this one "Abandonment" Montcalm County Michigan
Taken the same day as "Abandonment"... "The Farm" connects with many people from the Midwest as there are fewer and fewer of these farms as we evolve to larger and larger operations for our food and dairy.
I frame "The Farm" with grayed barn wood and print it at 12" x 36". It has been one of my most successful prints.

(22,756 posts)Pasties... a Yoopers favorite food!

(14,885 posts)Especially the two "farm" photos! The soft colors in "Abandonment" truly set the tone for the photo.
And geeze...haven't had a good Michigan pasty in a long time!

(592 posts)I really got lucky on that day.... I had dropped my Daughter off at Alma College and on the way back home I took both of these pictures. It had snowed the night before with just a light dusting of snow with zero wind. The snow was on the trees to the smallest of branches.
The effect was of course this soft surrealistic look....
Pasties are my favorite...although my homemade ones can't be touched by a commercially made one...

(5,756 posts)What software were you using for, say the B&W conversion and any other effects?
Yooperman
(592 posts)"The Farm" is not a black and white.... this was the actual color of the photo.
The others were enhanced very little.... mostly to try to get to the most accurate color of the shot itself.
I use Picasa for most of my enhancements. Easy to use and free.

Every now and then an image comes along I will never forget. That's one of those. My breath skips a beat whenever I see it. Now 4 times
Can't you show them a little larger, please?

(592 posts)Feel free to browse around ... ... also thank you so much... I love photography and I appreciate that you emotionally felt my work. That is what I try to do... and for you to let me know means the world to me.

(22,380 posts)LARGE that way. You are a true artist.
Your work is a visual invitation to an emotional experience.
Just for that I dug out a photo of an oil painting I did quite a few years ago it will remind you a bit of your photo, which is more beautiful, yet they are related.

(592 posts)Your comments mean more as I can see you have a deep understanding of art.
I wish I could remember the name of the artist your style is similar too... I am sure I saw a painting once on the "Antique Roadshow" that had this style.
You really captured a quiet serene winter here in the U.P. of Michigan...
The depth perception is outstanding!
Feel free to post a few more of yours in this thread... I am hoping others will show their own work as well.
Peace

(29,414 posts)On the third one, did you use a filter across the top? If so, it's nicely done
The one filter I love the most is my neutral density filter. I can't remember the number, but it's pretty dark. Really makes the clouds pop out in the sky. Maybe try one the next time you get to shoot snow scenes.
Yooperman
(592 posts)I didn't use a filter but I enhanced the color using a photo program on my computer. With digital photography, one really never knows exactly how the shot will turn out. In this case the sky and the snow were one color. So I added a bit of color to the sky to help.
All my photos were taken with a Nikon P-80... not a top of the line digital but as you can see once you know the strengths and weaknesses of the camera you can do some nice things with it.
Plus it is very easy to use....

(592 posts)That one was the first photo that was accepted by a Gallery. They actually featured it during their open house.
