Yes there's differences, especially in the ratio, but at the end of the day they all end up doing more or less the same thing. I find focusing easier with a tube, and if you get electronic ones you get all the features of the lens. Then again, my "real" macro lens is from 1971 so I'm used to doing it all by hand anyway..

I have shelves of gear, but just one small Lowe bag that Ibgrab-and-go; I only keep a superzoom, fast prime, and a tube in it along with flash and cables. Handheld isn't the best way to shoot macro by any means but sometimes it's all you got.

I'll carry two bags plus a backpack no problem, but probably 85% of my photos come from just walking around. If I'm heading out for a nice stroll around the city with no particular purpose, it's the small bag only. It's actually kind of a moot point; my tube isn't electronic so it's still manual-focus and guess the exposure anyway..

how small, it irritates my arthritis. I was a mail carrier and it ruined my neck/shoulders. So M4/3 and simplicity is how I roll.
