"We Didn't Put Out the Fire - Eulogy" by Benedict Arnold & The Traitors...

This is from our CD, "Star Spangled Bummer," released back in 2008.

I posted this in the DU Lounge and it sank like a rock...

1. Ah-ha!

I was wondering how it got back to the top with zero replies!

I thought I was losin' it...lol.

Nice fat tone for the rhythm on the verses. (Bmf! Bmf! Bmf!)
Cool "bullfight" lead.
Jumped off the bridge (so to speak) at the end there, huh.

Weird, but I like it.

2. Weird is good, as far as I'm concerned...

...hadn't considered the "bullfight" vibe, but you are correct.

Thanks for likin' it.

BTW, how did it get "back to the top with zero replies"?

3. It didn't.

When I saw this thread, I didn't realize that it was a dupe of the Lounge thread (the one that sank).

5. Trip seeing that Cathay flier.

Takes me back. Not that I went there a lot. I didn't. I'm a metal head. But I hung with this punk rock chick in the late 80s to mid 90s who was always trying to get me to go there. I remember messing with her head, saying things like "Cafe de What?" LOL...good times.

6. Back in the Cathay days, we played there quite a bit...

...but after '82, The Traitors evolved into The Hundredth Monkey and we were doing "psychedelic punk."

The Cathay always smelled like piss and stale beer (especially downstairs), so we bitched about the stink, and the fact that we were the only "punk" band hauling a Hammond organ around with us, but, in retrospect, it was fun playing there.

The late El Duce of the Mentors used to hang out there a lot, and since we were both playing 60s era Camco drum kits, we had some interesting drum talks.

Most often, the sound guy was Don Bolles (Germs, 45 Grave, Celebrity Skin, etc). The last time I ran into him, about a year ago, he actually remembered working with us when we were The Hundredth Monkey. He said we were doing stuff that he found interesting, so it left an impression on him. He may have been simply making conversation with me, but I think he actually did recall working the sound for us all those decades ago.

I wish now that the Cathay de Grande was still around, in all of its original "glory."

...I/We are still around, but we're doing a new project called Green Sparkle Frog.

You may check it out at our web site or at ReverbNation.com.

If you'd like a copy of the new CD, PM me your postal address.
