1. I love Son Volt!

They did an amazing show in St Petersburg 6 or 7 years ago. They don't get down here very often, unfortunately.

2. you have great taste in music.

This band is awesome. Funny I just heard their song "Drown" on the radio a couple minutes ago. The first time I have ever heard them on normal rock radio.

I saw them once in Pittsburgh a few years ago.

3. Towards the end of the show ( 3 hrs, with no break!),

they were really rocking out. Stranger next to me was trying to figure out who they sounded like. I replied, "Neil Young, in his prime". Everyone around us nodded in agreement.
Friend of mine from Philly went with me. He hadn't ever heard of them, was completely blown away. Wilco gets the pop music fans, Son Volt gets the serious music affectionados.

4. Yeah that seems to be how the

Wilco vs. Son Volt thing breaks down. there's a alot of Neil Young stirred into the mix for sure.

5. A slow picked banjo and a crying steel guitar

About as close to heaven as it gets.
