(6,251 posts)1. I saw Casablanca in a local theater a few weeks ago.
Incredible! The theater was packed (and had been for each of the three showings!), and the crowd gave a standing ovation at the end.
I love watching movies in the theater. Sitting at home alone, in a semi-lighted room, watching a (relatively) smaller screen, is not the same as sitting in a large dark room with a crowd, with the pictures on the screen filling your entire line of sight. There's something almost primal about story-telling in the dark.

I got the chance to see "The Maltese Falcon" in an old theater a few years ago in Houston---it was like seeing it for the first time, even though I'd seen it at least a dozen times on TV.....

They showed lots of old films like Psycho. Something about seeing a great film on a large screen with a large audience makes you fall in love with movies even deeper than before.
