One of Robert Wise's greats.

Cast is good, with Bloom and Harris standing out. Even Miss Moneypenny makes a showing at Hill House.

From Shirley Jackson's novel, and honors it quite admirably.

Highly recommended.

Scared the shit out of me when I went with a friend in my teens.

and she was quite lovely and even sexy! And she could act too.

She seems to have become rather caught up with her own ladylike image later on, and lost some of her spontaneity. By the time of her TV series in the sixties, she'd become pretty wooden and rather a caricature of herself, which was a great shame. But her early films are generally good viewing.

Everything about her is impeccable-hair, makeup, wardrobe, expression, gestures, etc. Have always liked her but official fan now.

I understand late in life she cultivated a wholesome image, though the real woman was more complicated...
