House Of Cards and The Usual Subjects *possible spoiler alert*

If you have not seen The Usual Suspects, do not read this OP and go watch The Usual Suspects. It will not be a waste of your time. But, in speaking about House of Cards, I will be discussing spoilers related to the aforementioned.

And down we go so that you don't get the spoiler unless you want it.

So, I just finished watching House Of Cards, the first season. I'm okay if there is a second season. I'm a huge fan of Kevin Spacey and have become a huge fan of Robin Wright during the watching of this show.

That said, I'm unable to give it an A+ rating and here's why: I have no problem figuring out Francis Underwood's motivation and the breaking of the fourth wall throughout the season just irked me. I never would have finished the season had that character been played by anyone less skillful at the Keyser Söze style sociopath than Kevin Spacey and heck, who else could be as skillful, right? He fleshed out that same sociopath very skillfully in this series but every time he explained to me what his motivation was, I just wanted to say, "I'm so sorry you agreed to do these expositions. I'm so sorry someone thought this was a good idea."

Now, granted, maybe I'm not their target audience and that their target audience really does need the interjected explanations for Frank's machinations. But, as the daughter of a sociopath, I do not need anyone to tell me Frank's motivation, especially with someone as nuanced and skilled as Kevin Spacey at the helm. Oh, and please don't get the impression that I'm saying Kevin Spacey is a one note actor just because this character reminds me of "Keyser Söze Goes To Washington". IMO, Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors ever to grace showbiz and he shines especially, if "shines" could be the right word, in his sociopathic roles.

I know this show is a remake of a British show and perhaps it is from there that the fourth wall breakage came, but damn, it makes me want to break something every time they do it!

1. I loved it and hated it all at the same time (the series), hey I know it was fiction but it feels

too real which made me depressed.

2. I really enjoyed HOC and liked his breaking the 4th wall.

Yeah, sometimes it wasn't worth it, but sometimes it was. Can't recall specifics now unfortunately.
