But, that said, I think I want an iPad.
Worth the price?

Almost as much as I love my iPhone. Coolest devices ever.
Get one. Come on. Come on over to the Dark Side. You won't regret it.

(20,176 posts)7. I do too...
fortunately, a wise friend of mine told me the following which, though it refers to iPhones, is seemingly universally-true for Apple products, except computers:
"The best deal in smartphones is the previous iPhone as soon as they come out with a new iPhone because the fanboys jump to ditch a perfectly-good six-month-old iPhone for about 1/6 what it's actually worth. I wanted one, bought it for about $100 on Craigslist, took the extra cash I would have spent and bought a plane ticket to Ibiza. Then people say 'How come you seem to always be able to afford to travel? I wish I could do that!' It's because I don't replace my electronics every time they flash something in front of me as New!! or Better!!"
I've heard that rant before, I'm pretty sure he cribbed it from a European travel-blogger...but it's true.
So, I'll wait for the next iPad to buy this one or until this Samsung mess resolves. Either way, I'm getting a cheap tablet...(edit)which I'll use until I run it into the ground before I replace it.

(10,621 posts)8. I really love my iPad, but ...
it is just a toy, and is not a replacement for a fully functional computer.

but I have an Apple Mac Mini computer. Best computer I have ever owned. I have had many PCs and they have died within a few years.
