'Lebowski' Fans: Do You Follow the Word of 'The Dude'?
http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/mailform?id=16023289 "Leboswki" fans unite! One die-hard fan of "The Big Lebowski" has taken the Coen Brothers' film to a whole new level with founding The Church of the Latter Day Dude (my note: www.dudeism.com), an emerging religious movement based around the "life and teachings" of Jeff Bridges' character, "The Dude." "Nightline" is looking for "Lebowski" enthusiasts, who are already following the word of "The Dude," or who would consider following it, for an upcoming segment. To participate, you must be 18 or older and be able to be in New York City the afternoon of Monday, April 23. Fill out the form below and a "Nightline" producer may be in touch with you. More info at url.

1. I had so many people say, 'Oh, you must see this movie.'
|
And I love funny and get all the humor, etc. but I swear I watched about 15 minutes and turned it off. Maybe it's just me or I'm old but sheesh... even "Dude, Where's My Car" was funnier.

4. You're not alone
|
Even the most die-hard Lebowski fans (i.e., me) have felt that way after the first, second, etc., viewing.
It's one of those movies that slowly seeps in the more you watch it, imo. And if it doesn't, that's cool, that's cool. |

20. I watched the first 15 minutes and turned it off when it was FIRST on cable...I hated it...
|
...then about a year ago I watched it on Netflix.
I've watched it 20 or 30 times since. Can't explain it. It really struck me the wrong way the first time around. I think it was a matter of loving "Fargo" and thinking "it was made by the same guys...maybe I should give it another chance." Glad I did. |

23. My wife & I watched the movie for the first time on Netflix about 2 weeks ago.
|
We both loved it and laughed all the way thru it. We also both loved "Burn after reading" but she didn't care at all for "True Grit" or "Fargo" which I greatly enjoyed.

2. OK. You've changed my life forever. Now what?
|
I've been an atheist since my teens and I'm 70 years old.
NOW I learn about Dudeism and find I'm no longer an atheist. I'm a Dudeist. Damn. Who knew? Thank you very much. It's all cool. |

14. eww no lol
|
I will go to the store - it's not very far
at christmas they had some neat Kahlua gift sets for sale so we bought a couple - they came with a 750ml bottle of regular and then a bunch of flavored Kahlua miniatures - each one just the right size to make one drink - chocolate was my favorite but the hazelnut was pretty excellent too. |

9. My friend's wife thought a "Caucasian" was the actual name
|
for a white russian.
This caused a minor kerfluffle when they were at a nice restaurant and the African-American server came up and asked if they would like to order drinks. She looked the server dead in the eye and said totally innocently "I'd like a Caucasian." My friend had some explaining to do, the server was cool with it, and she was mortified. true story peace, Noodleboy |

10. Just got my ordination certificate.
|
From The Church of the Latter Day Dude.
I can now officiate at weddings, funerals, exorcisms, christenings, ship launchings, and bar mitzvahs (I'm pretty sure). I'm available for a modest honorarium. |

|
The epic crusher, natural even when he was just a random stander punk valley sheep out of LA, always stealing the beach, and living in a sandbox and collecting Emmas.
In no time flat Dude murk'd his diva and became kart, seriously, like, totally brosiah. Then one day, he got all garshed when frogs on toast turned the world into a zoo, went ace, (actually kinda agg), left kai and bourd, and took up bowling. Dude is legend among greys and groms alike. Da kine. |
