(20,137 posts)ZZ played my oldest sister's Homecoming dance. They (the band) credit a local DJ who is still on the air in my town for starting them off. He booked them for a couple of gigs and when no one showed up to the first one he booked them again and promoted the gig himself, playing their music all of the time. This couldn't happen now with corporate radio!
My boss brought them to town twice a few years ago so his band could open for them. He had the elderly DJ come introduce them, it was awesome!

(31,182 posts)I thought Bananarama had two men from The Specials.
You remember some great bands. I'm alive, so alive.
Coventina
(27,057 posts)Bananarama did some early collaborations with Fun Boy Three (who I also left out!) who, yes, were a side project of some members of the Specials. But, the core of the group were the three women.
Love and Rockets....yes, one of my all time favorite bands. Saw them live a number of times.....

"Mayor of Simpleton" is one of my favorite songs.
Andy Partridge is a musical and lyrical genius.
Kolesar
(31,182 posts)His girlfriend dumped his valium before he had to perform. The concert went badly. Hence, not many live shows.
I've been trying zoloft and yoga for the same thing. I have destressed my life on other accounts and have a good support network: my wife.
Coventina
(27,057 posts)And of course, his health and well-being is primary over satisfying fans.
I have a copy of that old punk/new wave movie, "Urgh! A Music War" with rare live footage of XTC, before Andy quit playing concerts.
I cherish it....

(1,213 posts)They were consummate performers, and also wrote many of the biggest hits for other artists in the 60's. 70's, 80's, 90's, and into the 2000's. They were amazing...

(3,276 posts)This was a Cleveland folk group, about a bazillion years ago. It consisted of two guys - IIRC, Dave McIntosh and Brian Davies. Otis...was missing.
