Allergies?

My seasonal allergies start in Feb, usually. Not sure exactly what does it - all of the pines, the mold under the pine needles, trees, shrubs, weeds getting ready for spring? Not sure but in Feb I start stuffing up.

For the past 2yrs I've used Flonase and found it to be extremely helpful. I only use if for a few months, then stop for awhile till the summer allergies like ragweed hit me.

This year the Flonase is barely working. Not sure if the allergens are different or if they changed the formulation. I worry that the latter may have happened. Water it down or decrease the potency as maybe people use it improperly causing themselves adverse effects.

Anyone else use Flonase and if so, have you noticed if it is working the same as always? Maybe I need to try Nasocort or some other brand.

1. Allergies are my enemy and they're worse this year for me too

Try pairing your Flonase with Zyrtec or one of the other allergies drugs OTC. I have to also take Benadryl with that cocktail to get even some relief.

2. It hasn't been as bad as it is without Flonase

Claritan does little for me. I've tried Zyrtec and it made me a little groggy. I was so happy when flonase just worked. I didn't have to mess around with any systemic meds to try and control it - just a couple of sprays and I was good to go.

It's been really windy here so maybe if that settle down over the next couple of days with a little snow the allergens and dirt will stop blowing into my nose.

3. i use it (generic fluticasone) but mine is a prescription, not the over-the-counter flonase.

haven't noticed any problems. in fact, my allergies haven't been bothering me much as at lately.

it's certainly possible for allergy issues to outmatch what fluticasone can do, and it's also possible to build up a tolerance to it.

i wouldn't think they would actually water it down, but in donnie's America we probably have to be extra vigilant about corporate behavior....

5. I only wondered about formulation change for the OTC flonase because of possible misuse

You know how people tend to think because it's OTC it's safe and can't be abused. Maybe there are issues being reported with it now, so instead of putting a warning on it, just change the potency a little so it doesn't cause problems if it is used improperly.

I get asthma because of my allergies. Since the 1st day on Singular I've been able to reduce my inhaler from 3x a day to 1x a day. I could probably stop altogether, but do one for overnight, just in case. Still have had a couple of allergy attacks, but nothing like I was having before.

Not that I'm quite that desperate yet but that's something that needs to be prescribed?
