More Herbs, Less Salt Day Eating a healthy, balanced diet is often easier said than done it takes thought, time and effort to prepare fresh and nutritious food, when less healthy options are often much easier and more convenient! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/more-herbs-less-salt-day/Individual Rights Day In honor of John Locke, whose philosophical writings argued for the rights of each single human being, Individual Rights Day is celebrated on August 29th, the date of Lockes birth. According to Locke, Anything that a man has as a matter of human rights or civil rights is to remain inviolably his, and although Locke conceded that humans surrendered some natural rights in exchange for the collective protection afforded by societies, he held that basic individual rights include life, liberty, property, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom to petition government. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/individual-rights-day/

(53,339 posts)I've always used salt Liberally and my doc told me he wished he had my blood pressure. I even salt my pizza.
After burying trauma for a lot of years, I opened up and wrote about it. But that was personal and I didn't want to publish it. I talked to my old HS English teacher and told him the only thing I felt like writing about was cooking with garlic.
I never did it, but it was a delicious thought,

(38,958 posts)That seems to be a late start by the standards we have around here. It seems like the kids have been out for 20 minutes and it's time for the back to school sales to start and get them back to class on 8/10.

(28,394 posts)It seems like that is when we went back when I was a kid. Wow, Aug 10 is way too early!
Most schools are not air-conditioned here and are like sweat boxes until the end of Sept. It was 86 degrees here today! Ugh. I don't miss any of it.
BTW, I saw Halloween stuff for sale last week!

(17,193 posts)For those of us of a certain vintage, going to school in August is just fundamentally wrong. And they're getting out later, too. So with all this extra education, we should be a nation of geniuses (genii?).
