my Panasonic flat screen is displaying a white screen, but still has sound, and it's only about 5-6 years old

(23,643 posts)Just had a repair done on my 15 year old Kenmore washer. Before the repair man appointment I went out to look at new ones just in case. But the repair guy said stick with what I have as long as it's still doing the job. Said new ones don't last half as long.
The repair was for the safety switch that wasn't connecting anymore with the lid when the washer went into spin cycle. So no spin cycle. The replacement part total was $63 including tax. But the diagnostic fee and labor was $159. Diagnostic took 10 seconds. He stuck a screwdriver into the slot where the safety switch is and didn't hear a click. Repair took 1/2 hour.
Total bill $222. But I guess after 15 years that's not too bad.

(I live in AZ, so I don't have firsthand experience).
