What's your favorite unrequited love song?

"One More Minute" by Weird Al Yankovic

Well I heard that you're leavin'
Gonna leave me far behind
'Cause you found a brand new lover
You decided that I'm not your kind

Si I pulled your name out of my Rolodex
And I tore all your pictures in two
And I burned down the malt shop where we used to go
Just because it reminds me of you

That's right, you ain't gonna see me cryin'
I'm glad that you found somebody new
'Cause I'd rather spend eternity eating shards of broken glass
Then spend one more minute with you

I guess I might seem kinda bitter
You got me feeling down in the dumps
'Cause I'm stranded all alone in the gas station of love
And I have to use the self-service pumps

Oh, so honey, let me help you with that suitcase
You ain't gonna break my heart in two
'Cause I'd rather get a hundred thousand paper cuts on my face
Then spend one more minute with you

I'd rather rip out my intestines with a fork
Than watch you go out with other men
I'd rather slam my fingers in a door
Again and again and again and again and again

I'd rather have my blood sucked out by leeches
Shove an icepick under a toenail or two
I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with my tongue
Than spend one more minute with you

Yes, I'd rather jump naked on a huge pile of thumbtacks
Or stick my nostrils together with crazy glue
I'd rather dive into a swimming pool filled with double-edged razor blades
Than spend one more minute with you

I'd rather rip my heart out of my ribcage with my bare hands
And then throw it on the floor and stomp on it 'till I die
Than spend one more minute with you.

I actually lived this once as a teen.

<iframe width="520" height="292" src="

" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Took a walk and passed your house late last night
All the shades were pulled and drawn way down tight
From within the dim light cast two silhouettes on the shade
Oh what a lovely couple they made

Put his arms around your waist, held you tight
Kisses I could almost taste in the night
I wondered why I'm not the guy whose silhouette's on the shade
I couldn't hide those tears in my eyes

Sat May 7, 2016, 07:27 PM
May 2016

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars
She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours
Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of
Blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

Oh my love! I’d do anything for you
to have you for a second, far away from the world
and close to me
Oh my love! Just like the Magdalena river
which merges into the sea sands,
I want to be one with you.

Some loves become resistant to destruction,
like fine wines that improves with age,
the way my feelings for you grow ever stronger

There are loves that wait for winter and then bloom
and in autumn evenings turn evergreen,
just like the love I feel for you.

Oh my love! Don’t forget the sea,
which has seen me crying in the night
over the memories I have of you
Oh my love! Don’t forget the day
which separated your life
from this life that was my destiny to live

Some loves become resistant to destruction,
like fine wines that improves with age,
the way my feelings for you grow ever stronger

There are loves that wait for winter and then bloom
and in autumn evenings turn evergreen,
just like the love I feel for you.

Captain Beefheart

(so sad baby so glad girl)
When you first came round I was sad
My head hung down I felt really bad
Now I'm glad, glad about the good times that we've had

Walked in the park
kissed in the dark

leaves burned just like just like a spark
Now I'm glad
glad about the good times that we've had

You went away I cried night and day
for what you done I had to pay
Left me so blue I don't know
where to go or what to do
please come back and let the sun shine through

Mon May 9, 2016, 10:24 AM
May 2016

Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers.

"Oh my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
Time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love, I
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea
To the sea
To the open arms of the sea
yeah yeah
Lonely rivers sigh "Wait for me"
Wait for me
I'll be coming home
Wait for me

Oh my love, my darling
I've hungered,
Hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine
I need your love, I,
I need your love
God speed your love to me
Ooh"

May 2016

Yeah I'm old.
My very first pop concert. "Unchained Melody" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" were at the top of the charts.

My grandparents let my sister and me go because they probably thought they were a gospel group because of the name The Righteous Brothers.

My big sister and I are sitting on the front row of the balcony grooving on them and the grandparents are totally shell shocked.

Clean-cut white boys singing that "nigra music"!!! And it's LOUD! My grandmother actually used that word when she told us not to watch American Bandstand on Saturday morning. We should be watching Lawrence Welk instead. We wouldn't have been caught drunk in jail watching Lawrence Welk.

We all laughed at her behind her back for saying "You all shouldn't be watching that nigra music".

I guess I should have said, "Yeah, that Dick Clark guy, he's really really black."

66. Great story!
Mon May 9, 2016, 07:23 PM
May 2016

It has nothing to do with the Righteous Brothers, but there's a great "movie for TV" called
"Mr. Rock & Roll"...the story of Alan Freed, who was the first white DJ to play "nigra music" on the radio (First in Cleveland, then in New York City)

It's a truly great movie...I've seen it about 50 times.

Perhaps you could rent it on Netflix.

Another great movie about the early black R & B artists is called: "Cadillac Records"
It's about Chess Records founder Leonard Chess, and it portrays great musicians such as Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Little Walter, Etta James, and one of my all-time favorite rock n rollers, Chuck Berry.

I'm sure you'd like this movie too.

I bought the "Son of Schmilsson" album mainly for that song.
It's a great album.
Besides "You're Breakin' my Heart" other great songs on the album include:
"Take 54"
"I'd Rather Be Dead"

You're breakin' my heart,
You're tearing it apart, so fuck you

All I want to do is have a good time,,now I'm blue
You won't boogaloo
Run down to Tramps, have a dance or two, ooh
You're breakin' my heart
You're tearing it apart but fuck you

Nilsson died way too young (52)
His London flat, near Mayfair, was where both "Mama" Cass Elliot and Keith Moon died
(Cass Elliot died there in 1974, Keith Moon died there in 1978, at age 32)

After Moon's death, he sold the flat to Pete Townshend

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
Oh well. Enough said.
I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Oh...

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
See, the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me?

Sad veiled bride, please be happy
Handsome groom, give her room
Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly
(Though she needs you
More than she loves you)
And I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over and over and over
Over and over, la...

I know it's over
And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real
And you even spoke to me, and said :
"If you're so funny
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
And if you're so clever
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you're so very entertaining
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you're so very good-looking
Why do you sleep alone tonight ?
I know...

'Cause tonight is just like any other night
That's why you're on your own tonight
With your triumphs and your charms
While they're in each other's arms..."
It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind
Over, over, over, over

It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes guts to be gentle and kind
Over, over
Love is natural and real
But not for you, my love
Not tonight, my love
Love is natural and real
But not for such as you and I, my love

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my ...

The Everly Brothers - Bye Bye Love

Bye bye love
Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness
I think I'm-a gonna cry-y
Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness
I feel like I could di-ie
Bye bye my love goodby-eye

There goes my baby with-a someone new
She sure looks happy, I sure am blue
She was my baby till he stepped in
Goodbye to romance that might have been

Bye bye love
Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness
I think I'm-a gonna cry-y
Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness
I feel like I could di-ie
Bye bye my love goodby-eye

I'm-a through with romance, I'm a-through with love
I'm through with a'countin' the stars above
And here's the reason that I'm so free
My lovin' baby is through with me

Bye bye love
Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness
I think I'm-a gonna cry-y
Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness
I feel like I could di-ie
Bye bye my love goodby-eye
