The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTomorrow night we'll make our annual splurge-trek to Jesse's restaurant in Magnolia Springs.
http://jessesrestaurant.com/It will be our 47th anniversary.
For the last several years it's become a tradition to have the excellent filet mignon at Jesse's on our anniversary..
Who knew that such a tiny town as Magnolia Springs, Alabama would have such a fantastic restaurant?
Yes, it's pricey. As I said, it's a real splurge for us. But once a year, it's worth it.
Plus, we'll eat only about half and bring the other half home for another meal.
It's also the best filet I've ever had, and I've eaten in a lot of steakhouses all over the world.

The French immigrant owner saw a chance to realize his fantasy of having an auberge, or country inn, and opened L'Auberge Chez François on 6 acres of rolling green hills in Northern Virginia.
The food is superb, though I always went for the Chateaubriand for Two. Or as the menu lists it, "Chateaubriand de LAuberge, bouquetière de légumes, béarnaise et sauce Perigueux - chateaubriand, medley of vegetables, roasted potatoes, béarnaise and truffle sauce (for two)."
The restaurant still appears regularly on lists of the top 100 best restaurants in the U.S.
