The USAF's B-21 bomber needs a name.

www.ajc.com/news/news/national/image-of-secret-bomber-revealed/nqYsp/
Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James unveiled the illustration Friday for the first time at an Air Force Association convention in Orlando, Florida.

“We have an image. We have a designation, but here’s what we don’t have,” she told the audience. “We don’t yet have a name.”

I propose Mineshaft Gap or maybe the PBF-01 (Precious Bodily Fluids-01.)

What other names would work?

If they want a bomber they could simply use any airline or cargo type airframe with standoff weapons and bingo, it's done. Although I would like to see the B-36 line restarted. Those aircraft make a statement.

My first thought on seeing their image of it was "Why does this look the same as the previous one?" So, I guess we could use that as the name:

SameAsItEverWas-21 or SAIEW-21

Well, whatever it's officially called, the troops will probably come up with a better one.

For example, official name of the A-10 is Thunderbolt, troop's name Warthog. B-52, Stratofortess, aka Buff (big ugly fat f*cker), and so forth.

Fighter was a misnomer as it had no defensive weaponry, only it's "invisibility" to short wave radar. 'Course the old WWII longwave radar sees it just fine. Wobbly Goblin because the on-board computer was just slow enough to have the airplane constantly adjusting to keep it in the air. Wonder what the air sickness bag contract was worth.

Maybe the Shakey Flakey?

If they have a similar problem with this one, then how about BARF-21 (Big-Ass-Regurgitation-Flyer)?

Unless you know the context for "Fluffy" it'll be meaningless to most

I mean, it took you telling me that it was a three-headed dog to remind me of the context. If you have to explain it beyond the meaning of the string of letters (as with many military equipment designations) then it doesn't really work.

But, like with a joke, if it has to be explained, then it doesn't work well as a name, other than in complete jest as I took it originally

I think it has a perverse sensibility to it...it's big, scary, black as night, hard to detect, and will drive people mad.
