Totally bushed - just wiped out

3 white cell donations in 3 weeks and am just not recovering as fast now that I am getting older.

Used to be able to take a hit like this, but the last one was Saturday and I have only had short bursts of energy.
Headed to bed in about 10 minutes.

But when they are calling for white cells things aren't looking good for someone. In this case it was a child.....

for a while. That must be tough on the system.

What you do is important and I'm glad you do it.

but it is slow going for me to hit the appropriate weight level to give again. I fainted the last time because I was underweight.

They call, though, and how can you not?

the white cell donors are kind of a select group of folks who are very time flexible and certain blood types.
The process is kind of clunky and includes getting a shot to produce flu like symptoms.

Don't want to delve too deep, but donating white cells is something I am quite proud of. But donating that much in a short space of time can really get to an old codger.

Feeling much better today. I mean I was wiped out last night.

Sadly we never get to hear the outcome. I hope the child lived. Twice I have accidentally found out. But usually the patients that get white cells are - well - not in good shape.

Hope your chemo went well and all is good for you now.
