Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsJust found out I'm losing my job.
Well, actually on Monday, but I was in shock until I realized it on Thursday morning at about 12:01 am. Called in sick that day. And worked overtime today. Things were going so well. Oh well.

(5,604 posts)(which actually could lead to positive things) I could be gone tomorrow, or a year from now. I was negotiating permanent instead of contract status with them, and it was going well, but suddenly the company decided it wanted to liquidate 80M worth of real estate, so my entire department are now tasked with selling our careers and everything off. I'll be in on Monday, like always.

(63,221 posts)It's such an awful time of year for companies to give notice. I mean it's never a good time, but the holidays are absolutely the worst. I wish you the best of luck in finding something new. The new year is always a good time for hiring! Best wishes!

(5,604 posts)I am a lowly maintenance man, but because of that, no-one knows our buildings inside and out like I do. I'll definitely be working on that angle with the new owners.
