The free introductory version we got with a new vehicle bought last spring, and which we never used, is at or near the end of its run.
So this morning I'm running errands and playing a CD. On-Star cuts in, in mid song, with an auto announcement that we are set to expire. Message ends and nothing. No return to the CD. Just nothing. No button I push does anything. I can switch between CD and radio but neither plays. Volume adjusts show as "phone volume".
It's like I can't disconnect from the call.
Anyone else had this problem?

(15,220 posts)I just bought a new vehicle and I'm in the trial period. I was trying to make a phone call on my cell phone and somehow OnStar was making an announcement. I couldn't hear what it was because I was "on the phone".
But when I finally got everything quiet, NOTHING would come through the audio portion of my speakers. I tried starting and re-starting the vehicle, still nothing. Finally, I pushed the "phone" button on the On-Star panel (in my case, on the rear view mirror) and things went back to normal.
I'm still not quite sure what actually happened here...but it hasn't happened again.

(1,965 posts)The mirror button worked. Having never used it, I didn't even know it was there.

(15,220 posts)I still don't know what OnStar was saying to me! I just recently go the vehicle, so it shouldn't be telling me that the trial period is about to end. Who knows!

(3,065 posts)And I keep getting emails saying my trial is about to expire, but I still have 90 days on it. It's irritating.
Onstar is EXPENSIVE! The wifi cost me $150.00 for only 10 Gb to use for the next year. And many of the services it provides are already available on my smartphone so I don't think I'll be using them
