Fury

As I reflect on this somber holiday that is Veteran's Day, I've been thinking about what movies come closest to showing the grim awfulness of war. Although about a different time and era, Fury struck me as providing a powerful representation of war's horrors and effects on ordinary men and women.

Watching this movie might have a sobering effect on the armchair generals and other warmongers who have never served or been under hostile fire. I hope it would give them pause for thought at least; ordering men into battle is a decision not to be taken lightly, which I consider to be the greatest sin of the Bush administration.

I'm curious whether others who have seen this movie have a similar opinion.

That movie is the grittiest thing I have ever seen. It stays with you...

Probably one of the most accurate depictions of war ever...

When the germans are climbing on the tank at the end..you can hear them, feel them, almost smell them...

Total terror...knowing you are not just going to to die, but you are probably going to be tortured first?? incredible movie making...

And those scenes when they take out the anti-tank guns in the middle of the movie? Breathtaking...

This is weird to say, but this is one of my favourite movies of all time - but not sure I even want to watch it again???

It is that disturbing.
