I've spent all kinds of money on "better" ingredients such as brioche, cream, vanilla pods, and pricey liqueur, but the best bread pudding I ever had was made out of crappy white bread, white sugar, and bits of mandarin oranges and pineapple. Yum.

I don't want to believe that people are actually stupid enough to hoard such quantities of perishables.

Sweetie Pie - when big storms come I stock my fridge with beer. I figure the rest can wait until the storm passes!

The farmers up here put two-day-old bread in their cattle feed. They'll show up at the bakery thrift store and buy a whole trolley load of bread...and when they pull out of the parking lot, their pickups look just like that.

In the rest of our heathen state it's called "lost bread" or maybe French Toast.

And now I'm curious, do you always buy that much milk and bread for an emergency or do you own a restaurant?

We're getting slammed with rain. Picture is about 3 hours ago, it is now up to the deck. About 12 inches to go.
