Renate and I were married September 8th, 1965.in a small town in Germany

We've been together now for 50 years. I'm not the easiest guy to live with, and I honor Renate for her patience, her courage, her good humor and her loyalty. I've been very lucky. We've had our differences, but nothing we couldn't settle. Taken whole, we've had a good run and I'm grateful. I stll love her as much as I did then. Even so, I have my doubts about the next 50.

We got there in June.

Isn't it amazing? It's most of our lives!

Of course, political zombie that I am, I can't resist adding just how royally pizzed at Paul Simon I was, all those years ago, for ignoring the cultural boycott of South Africa to cut Graceland; and hearing some of that excellent music didn't soften the pain for me any back then
