Finally replaced my computer speakers (Question)

It's been so long since I've listened to anything on my computer in stereo, it actually sounds odd, LOL! But now I'm wondering, what's the best position for them? In front or the monitor or behind? And should they be facing:

At least two to three feet apart, angled in towards you depending on how far apart they are.

I have pretty powerful bookshelf speakers amplified by an standalone amp, that are at ear level about three feet behind my monitors and four feet apart.

My desk is not up against a wall, but nearly in the center of the room.
