in which Connery is fully developed as an actor.

But yes, I agree with you.

and did a good job with it, but the films didn't come together well. Heck George Lazenby was a terrific Bond in a film that doesn't really enough credit for his acting. I even enjoyed the Roger Moore films for the way he did the humor parts.

But Casino Royale with Craig (not the comedy) was put together perfectly in every respect and Craig (and all the other actors) nailed the roles. Quantum and Skyfall have not aged as well for me due to the scripts.

He had exactly the right look and mien that Fleming seemed to have in mind. His Bond was sometimes less than thrilled with the things he had to do and that quality came through.

Craig is fantastic, though. But Dalton remains severely underrated.

We shall not speak of R.M.

Not more than Connery, but I do like him.

Unfortunately I've found the movies he's been in (other than the first one) virtually unwatchable. Too much CGI, not enough wit.

Roger Moore even though he wasn't listed as an option. My wife is a Connery fan all the way. Craig's facial features remind both of us of Putin.

It was the silly scripts. Let's face it, they were all fine actors, even Goerge Lazenby, and Lazenby had the benefit of a great script in OHMSS with an unforgettable ending. But based on sheer acting ability I will give the slight edge to Craig.

He played an posh bond with a sense of humor. The scripts were weak. The stunts were spectacular. The one that sticks with me was The Man With The Golden Gun because of how the villain's vanity finally did him in. The resentment that he wasn't Connery always struck me as odd.

was the only Bond I knew. Not long after my mom and dad divorced, mom decided we needed a movie night to cheer things up and she took me to see The Man With The Golden Gun. I was 11 or 12 and have loved James Bond movies ever since. Even the bad ones. I eventually learned there was some Irish guy who did them too and I grew to love those movies as well but Roger will always be my sentimental favorite no matter how awesome anyone else is as Bond. (And I do absolutely love all the later Bonds too. Special nod to Pierce Brosnan. I thought he got screwed out of some good years as Bond.)

Casino Royale the movie was the closest representation to the book. That torture scene comes out of the book. Craig did it spectacularly. One minute he's the victim and then he wasn't. He knew what button to push, and it worked.
I grew up reading the books, dating back to the Kennedy administration. Kennedy helped make them popular.
They slowly ruined the films by putting in slapstick. Daniel Craig is Bond, the Bond that can kill and not blink an eyelash, but also has a human side.
Sad day when they have to let Craig go. He made O07 come alive.
Judging from the newest Spectre trailer, they're paying homage to past films. I can't wait! Darn Britain gets to see it earlier. Bond belongs to them, so I'll try not to complain.

For all the talk about Connery, his Bonds look as silly and dated as the Roger Moore Bonds.

Craig is the only Bond who behaves as if being a member of the 00 Section of MI6 is tough, unpleasant, and only intermittently rewarding. Fleming made it clear that Bond served out of a sense of duty, and disliked killing. Craig gives the impression of a man who wants out, but can't quite imagine what else he would do with his talents.

His Casino Royale is my favorite Bond film by a long shot, even besting the legendary Goldfinger.
