(42,770 posts)but couldn't -- suppose I would have to watch every piece of film to find it. My brother and I memorized that when we were kids and I have never forgotten it.
I have to say, looking for the quote, I learned a lot.
Didn't know the Three Stooges satirized Hitler long before it was acceptable to do that. They also always tried to show the poor and downtrodden in society.
Moe was a family man. He was married almost 50 years. His wife's father warned her not to marry a comedian because she would never have a home. Moe took this to heart and they had a beautiful home with an English garden in California. He wisely saved and ended up very wealthy. He made his less responsible brothers give him money to save too.
And, the whole thing about eye finger popping came to Moe while they were playing bridge !
P.S. Over the years, my brother and I would always say this quote when anyone asked "Are there any questions?" Makes you sound very intelligent. :>

(12,319 posts)Moe and Mister Haney. I actually thought it probably was Moe, since you had said the emphasis was more on the first name.
The quote is not really familiar, but they would say some pretty convoluted stuff! I used to watch the Stooges with my dad.

(42,770 posts)they used to show the Three Stooges to people to scare them....."See, this is why we need bombs because these Americans can get a piano dropped on their head and survive." Haven't been able to find any current info on this - but have always thought it was interesting.

(23,487 posts)There were a few Yiddish jokes they through in a few episodes. My dad did translate it for us. For example, in one episode one of them told someone to drop dead. "verga huggert" is the phrase I remember. Almost all the stooges were Jewish. I think some of the replacement third stooges in the later years weren't.
