Alright, it's past noon on the west coast: Saturday Drinking Thread!

I used to do one of these every weekend way back when. I've been a member of DU since 2003. I changed my user name is 2009, and I guess I just got a lot more...responsible, for lack of a better word, when I decided to go by me. Well, fuck that. I'm throwing caution to the wind. Post your best drinking stories, songs, drink mixes, and anything related to booze below. My contribution will be the best poem I ever wrote. I think Shakespeare would be impressed. I'm drinking Dos Equis Amber, by the way.

Beer

If wine is divine
then beer is heavenly.

You know when life gets going strong
that there is absolutely nothing wrong
with throwing back a cold six pack
to ease you of your panic attack.

And when it seems like life is hell
and everyone is ringing your bell
invite them out to have a drink
and drink the brew until you stink.

And if your mate leaves you one night
old beer never grows trite
it will be there ever faithfully
to share in your poor misery.

But you really don’t need an excuse
to put good beer into use
all you really need is a five spot
and a place to keep it from getting hot.

1. I'm working my way through old liquor supplies. Heh. It's a rather large amount.

3. It doesn't last long enough to get to a rather large amount around here. :)

Although, there is a bottle of gin that has been here for at least five years. It's one of my wife's favorites, but she has become a teetotaler. Only a few ounces have been taken from it. I can't stomach the stuff. I'm much more of a beer guy, although I have been known to drink Jack and Coke.

9. I didn't intend to become a teetotaler but I just lost interest in drinking for a few years.

Now, it's drink up or continue dusting the bottles.
I'm looking at a long summer, gotta do something to occupy my time.

I am not drinking anything, since that is my usual habit. I had my coffee already...

Cheers!

Loved your poem!

Thanks for the compliment. I know it's not really a great poem, but I think it truly is one of the best I've written. I have written some very bad poetry in my time. I'm much more of a prose kind of guy.

I've never heard of it. We got a couple of good micro-breweries from where I'm from. I'd sooner drink their stuff than I would some of the national brands.

i don't see sunshine when i travel, but i do see other beers from new belgium. fat tire has been known for years and it's not a beer worth drinking, imo.
