Do you ever panic ?

I mailed something certified mail 10 days ago. It was to an address only 12 miles from me. Yeah, I could have driven it there but it's a 24 mile round trip versus 3 miles roundtrip to the post office.

Anyway, the green certified return mail receipt has not gotten to me yet, ten days later. I FREAKED OUT, and called the office of the guy to leave a voicemail asking about status. I TOTALLY FREAKING forgot you can check that on https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input

So, after politely freaking out on the nice lady at his office working on Sunday (yes I was polite and civil, just panicked), I checked the website. Bingo, freaking manila envelope took 4 days to travel 12 miles. I'm NOT bashing USPS. Just the facts.

So, I called the nice lady back, told her emergency was over, and thanked her for her patience! Now I feel pretty stupid and guilty.

I started trying to file my income tax today. I wanted to do paper, but no, you can't really do that anymore. I read you can't send it in the mail, you have to use UPS or FedEX. WTF is up with that?

Ya know, I think "they" are doing everything possible to make you panic and make mistakes. So, I backed away, took a deep breath and went outside to watch the birds in my yard. Consider the birds...

I'll try again tomorrow, and it will be okay.

on the PDF that explains how to fill out your 1040, after 104 pages. At the end it tells you how to mail. That's where I found that. I guess if you want to just mail it, you need to read further. I've been doing my own taxes for 40 years. It really has become more complicated and I get frustrated and panic. Just a reply to the OP.
