Absolutely compelling. Once you start, it's hard to stop. Anderson is absolutely terrific and Jamie Dornan super-creepy. Highly recommended for Netflix binge-watching.

(7,570 posts)But the second season was GREAT.
It also led me to watch Broadchurch, which is also streaming on Netflix. And that was even BETTER.

(48,217 posts)It's about a policewoman who is obsessed with getting the man whom she blames for her daughter's suicide. Her remaining family is a mess to the extent that the only person with her head on straight is her sister, a recovering heroin addict (played by Siobhan Finneran, who was O'Brien on Downton Abbey).
Also, try the original Life on Mars (available on Hulu). The basic plot is the same as the mediocre American remake, but it's much edgier. It stars John Sims, who played The Master in one season of Doctor Who, and Philip Glenister (hilariously raunchy and knuckle-dragging) in the role that Harvey Keitel had in the American version.
Incidentally, if you can tolerate the commercials, Hulu Plus is becoming one of the best sources for British TV old and new. It has the entire runs of classic Doctor Who, Inspector Morse, MI-5/Spooks, New Tricks, Whitechapel, Scott and Bailey, Line of Duty, Waking the Dead, Kingdom, A Touch of Frost, and a host of other dramas, comedies, and documentaries that have never appeared on PBS.

(1,999 posts)I loved season 1 of The Fall, and now I have Happy Valley to add to my list as well.
I haven't watched Netflix since we had to put down my fur baby snuggle buddy because her chronic kidney disease got so bad. We binge watched a lot of British mysteries together, my little Staffie and I.
