Scrapple beer returns Wednesday
Scrapple beer is returning to Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats on Wednesday.
The love-it or loathe-it brew had a hugely successful December debut at the Rehoboth Beach brewpub.
<<<snip>>>
But the pair promised the beer, infused with a super lean version of RAPA Scrapple, would be back.
And now it is.
Known as Beer for Breakfast, the scrapple beer is actually a version of DFH's Chicory Stout as well as lactose sugar, barley malt smoked over local Fifer Orchards wood; maple syrup; and Steve's Smokey Double Dark roast coffee from J & S Bean Factory in St. Paul Minnesota.
Some say the 25 pounds of Rapa Scrapple, which was added to the mash, adds an earthy, umami finish with a touch of salt. The beer's ABV (alcohol by volume) clocks in at a tipsy-inducing 10 percent.
