It's lovely! And seriously, compared to all the crappy mcmansions out there, $500.000 is a steal.

I hope it sells to responsible and good-hearted owners.

and the price is fantastic

the heating bills would suck
and so would the electric (the house looks pretty dark inside, inspite of all the windows)

even if i could afford such a place i would have second thoughts because he used to practice medicine there--and i wouldn't want to live in an environment where there once was so much pain/suffering/heartache (i'm assuming)

for 6 years. Unfortunately, the original owner's grandchildren stripped the stained glass windows
and some of the decorative woodwork out of it--along with all the original light fixtures--before
they sold it to the people who owned it before we did. Really a shame.

And omg, the heating bills! One winter month before we moved we had a gas bill that was $900+!!!
None of the windows were thermal insulated and the wind blew all the time (after all, it was the Plains).
My husband loved the house and I was very happy to sell it and leave Nebraska.

Oh, and the original guy who built the house was an MD.

My in-laws owned a similar sized home in Iowa. Built in 1906.

Great house, but the maintenance and utilities!!!

A lot of old churches have the same problem -- beautiful old buildings that were built by wealthy congregations, and today's congregations have trouble maintaining them.
