when we got there friday (husband was trying to figure out if his lips were orange)
friday sunset (we rode the ferris wheel last night)

saturday
the husband being a caveman
and then the whole reason we went. we were maybe 35 feet from the stage early on and within 20-25 by the end (we got to the stage an hour before they started and listened to social distortion on the stage behind us). they played a pretty standard set list - homesick, fascination street, prayers for rain, love song, pictures of you, disintegration, lullaby, friday i'm in love, just like heaven, from the edge of the deep green sea, 100 years, boys don't cry, wrong number, never enough. but then they slipped in songs like caterpillar girl, mint car, want, the hungry ghost, close to me, push, love cats, hot hot hot, give me it, the walk and cut here. i had the perfect buzz at the start of the show and kept it going through the whole set. i was just blissed out the whole time and danced my ass off. i even caught the husband dancing and singing along.
homesick (and the best shot we could get of simon)
why can't i be you?
and we wrapped it up with a truck stop breakfast on the way home
now i'm home, beer in hand and football on tv. i'd take a nap, but the broncos kickoff in about ten minutes and there's no way i'm missing that.
thank you guys for putting up with my endless threads about this over the last month or so. it was worth every dime we paid.

(24,146 posts)that was four hours ago and i'm still stuffed. i don't eat like that often.
sometimes you just have to do it. I had 9 chocolate truffles a few nights ago. Haven't done that in 3 years!

(24,146 posts)i had falafel when we got to the festival friday and then a couple chicken and green chile tacos later in the evening. breakfast yesterday was half a cherry crepe, a couple slices of thick bacon and some home fries. outside of some cheese fries, all the calories i consumed at the festival yesterday took the form of beer. had the other half of the crepe and another piece of bacon when we got back from the show and then the gut bomb this afternoon. we also had cheese, crackers, salami, hummus, avocado, croissants and nuts to snack on at the hotel.
the last four bucks in our budget were spent in the truck stop parking lot buying four palisade peaches, probably the last i'll see for the season. i'll bust into one of those here in a bit

(149,580 posts)I'm so glad it met your expectations! Anniversaries, esp. major ones, don't come along every day, so it's worth the effort you put out to make it happen, and happen well!
And we did not put up with your endless threads, far from it! I was enjoying it almost as much as you were!
Happy Anniversary!

(24,146 posts)there were a few small issues, like my forgetting the tickets yesterday and not realizing it until we were almost there (no biggie, the hotel was only ten miles away), but it was a nearly seamless weekend.
now you guys get to spend the next five weeks listening to me talk about how my best of besties is going to be here in five weeks

(24,146 posts)we're talking about a man who hates the crowds at the grocery store taking me into a sea of people so i can see my favorite band because it would make me happy. don't get me wrong, he had a great time, but he did this because i wanted to.
i hit the jackpot with him.

(17,184 posts)When I go out in crowds, I start looking for walls to put my back against and the nearest exit. But my lady friend begged me to go out into the riot so we could join the celebration. For awhile there, I thought I'd lose at least my windshield, if not my life. Ah, well. If you won't indulge your lover, what good are you?
