We have a new family member!

So today is my birthday. My partner's daughter just moved in with us a couple of weeks ago. It's been an adjustment for everyone, as anyone would expect. But we are making it work the best that we can. Our daughter's birthday is in two days and the one thing she has been asking for is a dog of her own. My partner and I talked about it and we agreed she could have one (we thought it would be good for the adjustment, plus teach her some responsibility), but that it was going to take time to find the right one and we probably wouldn't be able to get one anytime soon.

Well, today while we were at birthday breakfast with my family, my coworker texted me that someone dumped a dog at our store and drove off. He wanted to know if I could come in and watch the store while he took it to a shelter. I said, let me come in and see, and we might be able to do better for the dog than taking it to the shelter.

We told our daughter that we were just running errands and that we had to run by the store to get something I left last night. As soon as we walked through the door, she saw her new dog and fell in love. And how could she not?! This is the sweetest dog! I hate it when people can just let animals go, I will never understand it. But if we can be her forever home, we are more than happy. And what a great birthday gift for her, but also for me that it makes her so happy.

This is Hazel! (how anyone could get rid of such a sweet girl is beyond me)

Much love DU! And please, if you want a dog or a cat, please adopt or rescue. Hope everyone has a great day!

She really is a beautiful dog. And very well tempered. Why people could let a dog like this go, I will never understand.

when the cosmos comes through like that! And what a sweet girl. May the sub-humans who ditched her get the karma they deserve. Give Hazel a big kiss on the head from her Auntie Taz.

I think that people who are cruel to animals are some of the worst people on the face of the earth

on the new addition!

My last three dogs have all been adoptions. Snowy--our current fur baby-- sends birthday greetings
to your daughter and a big waggy tailed WOOF to Hazel for her good luck in finding a forever home!
This photo was taken in Snowy's favorite spot after a hot weather walk: next to the floor vent a/c!
