Excelsior!
I just love that guy.
I had him make that up for DU one time when we were at lunch out in BH. He has a stack of those Spidey cards in his desk drawer and makes them up for friends and visitors. Here we were that day:

Gil, in the middle, is his legal right-hand man.

(54,369 posts)As for Stan, even guys like him gotta know SOMEBODY. I'm just a "somebody."

(8,217 posts)The only guy who I can say, is slightly in the same vicinity that I have shook hands with is Bill Clinton.
I would have rather met up with Stan Lee.

That was pretty cool.

(54,369 posts)Sort of like a pinball that has this one run of hitting one bumper after another. For some of them, I was too young to appreciate it.
I'm probably one of the few people on DU who met both Salvador Dali and Groucho Marx.
Luckily, Stan is one I was aware enough to appreciate. We email regularly. I can't believe he'll be 92 this December.

(54,369 posts)I don't know how many people are as active as he is at 92. I suspect George Burns must have been a little like that.

(8,217 posts)I like it a lot. I hope he reaches over a hundred.

(54,369 posts)He did have a pacemaker put in recently, but I think that has been his only concession to letting modern medicine get anywhere near him. He's just too busy having fun to get sick.
By the way, if you ever get to meet him, here's the bad news: the first time, you have to buy HIM lunch. The good news is, he's a cheap date! Of all the places to go in Beverly Hills, he prefers cheap delis for lunch. Brooklyn roots that won't quit.
