I am on vacation. Apparently the world is blowing up.

My county has been declared a disaster zone due to torrential rain and flooding (my home appears to have escaped unscathed, per our dog sitter - yeah!), Robin Williams killed himself, Lauren Bacall died, and racism in Ferguson has the town looking like a war zone, with journalists being arrested, and police tear gassing state senators and peaceful protestors.

One week, people. One week. I go on vacation and boom! The world goes to hell in a hand basket.

Who knew I was so important?

Well, I am not coming back until Saturday no matter how much you beg, so get it together.

And for the love of heaven, no crazy militia types in Ferguson, please. Those people have enough problems already.

So someone else can pick up the "worry load" while I slack off.

I guess if you hear about things piecemeal, it doesn't seem so overwhelming, but wow -- crazy stuff.

Husband and kids = awesomeness. Saving some money by crock potting meals - barbecue ribs are falling off the bone and smelling yummy....

I am a very lucky woman. The man who lost his son in Ferguson breaks my heart.

Mine are still young - only seven - I can't watch the news from Gaza....

Breathing the smell of barbecue, counting my blessings, and trying to remember to live, just for this brief time, in the Now of making happy memories....
