OK, here is my "12 Inch BMT Story" from March 28, 2014.
Subway Employee: "Do you want jalapenos?"
ME: "No thank you"
(She then put about 20 jalapeno slices on my sandwich).
Subway Employee: "Black Pepper & Oregano?"
ME: "No oregano please, black pepper is OK"
(She shook about half a canister of oregano on my sandwich, followed by the black pepper).
I then made the mistake of saying "oil & vinegar is OK."
I probably should have asked her to stop as she went back and forth, back and forth with each bottle, drowning the sandwich in a sea of oil & vinegar. It really was a sea. I felt like I had to call upon Moses to part my sandwich before I could wade in and eat it.
Ate half, and then it started getting to me. Looked at the other half and decided I felt as bad as I needed to feel for today so in the trash it went.
NO WONDER "Jared" lost 400 friggin' pounds.

(18,837 posts)I could have, should have. I cut people way too much slack and in the end reap the rewards of that kind of behavior.

(7,699 posts)sauce or toppings unless you directed them otherwise...before they grabbed the bottle.
Due to both taste preference and a desire to cut calories, I only get mustard on my
sandwiches. Mustard is pretty powerful stuff so you never need much, but they
would put like 6 tablespoons on a 6 inch sub.
So I think either they are trained to do it that way, or, more likely, no one trains
them on this topic well (since extra cost is involved for Subway). I used to manage
QSF restaurants and young people in particular always seem to think that more
is better.

(50,549 posts)I don't want jalapeños or banana peppers on my sandwich, but if you ask for just green peppers you will get all three. So I always order, "no onions, no peppers, all the other vegetables." And sure as shit, I have to confirm that I don't want green peppers, banana peppers or jalapeños. One at a time. Like it's a capital offense to not want peppers on your sandwich!

(18,837 posts)I used to know the owner of a Deli in San Jose that stretches back to the turn of the 20th Century. He...and others like him...disparagingly refer to Subway as "Home of the Bread Sandwich." And it's TRUE! Every once in a while I go in there because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking "They can't be that bad." And every time I get ganked. They ARE that bad.

(50,549 posts)One of the smaller sub chains, when Subway had a lot more $5 subs than they do now, used to run an ad campaign that said, "There's something missing from your $5 sub - like MEAT!"
