can be used (along with a HEAPING TRUCK LOAD OF TALENT) to produce really precise paintings full of amazing detail. If you want ultra-realism, use acrylic paint!

I learned with oils, but acrylics are so much more versatile...particularly because there are so many mediums you can add to make the paint do what you want. The possibilities are endless.

at what can be done with pencils, too.

Years ago I took some art classes where the medium was pencil.

We started out with the hardest lead and worked our way gradually to the softest (i.e. darkest) on special paper...I think it was a kid finish.

All the drawings were very good, but there was one guy who was awesomely talented. His drawings looked just like black and white photographs.
