are dogs pack loyal enough to get revenge?

I ask because a photo thread i started got me wondering.

back story...when we lived near my wifes parents the neighbors had a MEAN rott who was katie the wonder terrier's nemises. One day that rott was terrorizing one of our cats and Katie went to the cats defense.....60 stitches later she came home from the vet.

Two weeks later Buddy Guy,who was a calm dog, caught that rott and shredded her.She spent a week at the hospital

Do dogs in a domesticated environment really remember and seek revenge?

3. You may want to consider taking responsibility for the health and safety of your pets.

They should not have been put in those situations in the first place. It seems like a lot of unnecessary pain for all the pets involved.
