On edit - as good as this version is (over 12 minutes)...is does leave out the sassy guitar reprise/extension licks towards the end from the original (which is a little over 14 minutes...and the version probably most of us are familiar with...)

I once heard "Free Bird" described as the hillbilly version of "Stairway To Heaven." I have never had a reason to object to that description. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that they suck, I will say that Skynyrd is probably one of the most over-rated American bands of all time.
