(19,339 posts)something like that made in USA, check out Battle Lake Outdoors. Their stuff KICKS ASS. All made in Minnesota, and durable as hell. We bought school backpacks for the kids five years ago, and the packs still look brand new. One of the kids' hockey bags is from there, as is Mr. Brickbat's grip (the bag he takes with him every day on the locomotive), both of which are standing up beautifully to the abuse. I cannot recommend them enough.

(17,086 posts)The blue one isn't even being marketed as a backpack. It's a "tackle bag". It's for carrying gear from the back of the car to the boat and keeping it organized. Notice there is no waist belt. I do like Bass Pro Shops in general, but I don't think this is a good choice for you.
I don't know what brand the top one is, but if it is similarly priced, I doubt it will hold up well. I bought one that looked sort of like it at Walmart a few years ago and it didn't last more than a couple months before ripping out. (I'm a rough user.)
If you can afford it, this would probably work well for you. On sale, free shipping, and a reliable warranty.

(17,086 posts)Probably decent quality. If you are able to go to the store, test it for fit. Put about the same weight in it as you plan on carrying. A lot of packs don't fit women well because they are too long and there is too much distance between the shoulder and belt straps. After boots, nothing is going to impact your fun more than your pack, equipment wise. The wrong one can ruin your day, and if it fails, it's useless. Check the stitching and zippers!

(17,671 posts)Kifaru stuff is indestructible and made to fit. You can get anything from 1000 to 5000 CI and add internal and external accessories to your hearts content. They are the most comfortable backpacks I've ever worn.
This is one of about one or two products in the world where I will admit to brand loyalty.
