4. My dear TexasTowelie!

We are having a very nice time, but remember, vacations are strenuous, a huge change of pace from what we normally do...

3. Ahh Tuscany, I miss you :(. Thank for these!...

We had such an amazing time there! I am remember we stayed in this small little hill farm with a family. At night I walked out to see the lights of a nearby small hill town against the sky. Fireflies accompanied us as we strolled. Another night we walked into this tinny little village square to hear the sounds of happy people talking. There was this little hole in the wall restaurant we stopped at there where my father had is birthday dinner. It was one of those 5 seat restaurants that only served the small town and the occasional tourist, fantastic food. And the chef came out and chatted with everyone after. I have to get back there some day.

6. My dear Locut0s!

Your experience sounds much like ours, except we're staying in a small walled village.

Gargonza dates from the 13th Century, and is very lovely.

It was restored about 40 years ago, and now functions as a very atmospheric B&B.

I hope you can return to Tuscany someday...

12. Thanks, my dear femmocrat!

Italy reminds me of a greener California. Similar vegetation, climate, humidity and so on.

It has been a wonderful trip!

19. Ahh, so pretty. Old gray buildings, stone or wood, and pink & red flowers go together

I just wish we were technologically advanced to the point of sending scents through the internet! And tastes!

Now I'm going to see if you have other photos/posts about your trip, because I didn't even know you and 'Lionel' were on a trip!
Are you getting him to drink lots of orange juice? I see blood orange juice from Sicily is popular in Italy.

20. Thank you, my dear marzipanni!

I did put some other posts in my Journal, if you're interested...

He does stay away from juices since they spike his blood sugar...

But he does get plenty of Vit C from other sources.

21. Gargonza

Lovely - I have stayed in Gargonza many times - the last time last summer. My favorite house is Nerina - stayed there with my family in 1996. One of my very favorite places.

Have dinner at Cacciatore on the highway just before the turn to Gargonza - great food. The food at Gargonza's restaurant is good too.

Enjoy!

29. I saw what I thought was a field of sunflowers, my dear vanlassie...

They weren't very tall yet, but I did see the yellow heads starting to grow.

I think it's early in the season...
