should I write a letter?

this asshole just hassled me twice and threatened to detain me if I didn't give him some ID. he wouldn't tell me HIS name. this is him running away after I told him "OK I will have to start videoing this encounter now"

edit to make sure it was clear I am talking about a border patrol agent. I have NO problem with the local Sheriff's Dept. or AZ DPS/Highway Patrol.

I already "discussed" this with two supervisors.

I didn't realize they dressed like National Park Service rangers. I'm sure all that forest green really helps him blend-in in the Arizona desert.

they don't need to blend in because they hardly ever get out of their air conditioned vehicles. unless they are hassling middle aged anglo woman ranchers on their ranch

but have no clue what ranch that road is crossing. We go through this bullshit every shift change, but I have never had one follow me and hassle me again after the mutual dismissal of the first encounter. that was new, and pretty infuriating.

but point out that your parents raised you to believe visitors to your property should at least properly introduce themselves, even when they don't have the good sense to provide a calling card. Explain that you are very embarrassed by the young man's behavior and might like to send him a copy of Emily Post, except that you do not know his name. Finish with the hope that they are not working too hard and will have a chance to enjoy the fine summer weather

I was in a park. They came up, two of them, and demanded ID from everyone.

I showed my ID at the time was still a Missouri ID. They said it was not good enough! They said I had to come up with something better. Thank Providence I had my birth certificate! They were going to arrest me for having an ID from Missouri!

Seriously though yeah I would write in about something like that. You never know if it could turn uglier later.

You'd probably just reach some other asshole that will defend this guy's actions.

Let me understand, this guy was on YOUR property?

If so, just tell him to get the fuck off!

If that's the case (on your property) call the sheriff/highway patrol whatever and tell them you have a trespasser.

I once had a cop at my door whining about something - asked him if I was being arrested, he said no - I told him to leave or I'd charge HIM with trespassing - he left quite quickly.

sounds, I doubt that it would do much good. I would let the local cops know that these asshats keep bothering you. Calling the border patrol supervisor is probably better, because they probably have records of those phone calls.

And, send letters to both Grandpa and Fuckface. CC to Gov. Bonefinger, while you are at it. I recommend holding off on the tequila until the letter-writing is completed.
