Whenever something needs doing, I'm always thinking "Yeah but what if Yellowstone blew, or that overdue Big One struck the Pacific Northwest tomorrow? Then I'd have wasted my time doing whatever I was supposed to be doing." Best not risk it.

I'm also a big believer that quantum flux could spontaneously fix things some time.
